About Me

At the heart of my coaching is a simple belief: that people are capable of profound clarity, resilience, and change
when given the space to listen inward and move outward with intention.

I was first drawn to coaching after completing my doctorate. I was certain that I did not want to pursue a traditional academic career, but uncertain about what came next. Coaching gave me the space to pause, reflect, and explore everything from my ego to my skills. In doing so, I began to distinguish the expectations I’d been carrying from the values I wanted to live by.

What I discovered through that experience continues to shape both my life and my work. I’ve learned that clarity rarely comes from having all the answers. More often, it emerges when we’re willing to stay with uncertainty long enough to hear what matters most. My hope is to create the kind of reflective space that allows people to navigate complexity with greater clarity, discernment, and trust in themselves.

Since those early coaching conversations, I have spent 15 working across academic, community, and policy settings as an educator, researcher, and strategist, supporting access, equity, and meaningful change within institutions. Alongside my coaching practice, I work at the University of British Columbia, where I partner with academic leaders to cultivate clarity, compassion, and purpose in their work. You can learn more about my background and experience on LinkedIn.

Beyond my professional work, my family and the ocean and forests around me keep me grounded and connected to what matters most. A commitment to spiritual inquiry has been a steady companion for many years. It continues to deepen my understanding of myself and others, and quietly shapes how I listen, how I make sense of complexity, and the presence I bring to my coaching.

As a first-generation immigrant settler, I’m deeply grateful to live and work on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tselil-Waututh Peoples in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

What My Clients Say

What I found most impressive are Maryam’s listening skills and sharp understanding. I was always able to face challenges with ideas, concrete actions or a way to talk through problems that I would never have reached on my own. I greatly appreciated having manageable steps to resolve my issues, leaving sessions with a direction and confidence in the path forward.

A.S. Department Chair

It’s been inherently empowering to understand myself more deeply and to be supported in that process. What felt unique about Maryam’s coaching was the focus on building strategies and tools for living in greater alignment with myself and others.
